The Thunder Bay Police Services Board (“Board”) is currently accepting applications for a new Deputy Chief of Police for the Thunder Bay Police Service (“Service”). The City of Thunder Bay, located on the north shore of Lake Superior, under the protective watch of the Sleeping Giant, is the most populous municipality in Northwestern Ontario. With over 300 staff, including 227 Sworn Officers, the Service’s jurisdictional population is just over 117,000 and covers 678 square kilometers.

Accountable to the Board and working closely with and reporting to the Chief, the Deputy Chief oversees the day-to-day operations of the Service in accordance with the Police Services Act and coordinates all activities associated with Labour Relations, including discipline. As a member of the Senior Command Team, the Deputy Chief will embody the mission and values of the Service. The Deputy Chief must be committed to the ideals of the Service through implementation of the objectives and priorities as determined by the Board.

The Board seeks an individual who is highly motivated and experienced at a senior level who can help the Chief lead the Service through a time of change and challenge. This position offers an exciting opportunity for the right person to make a positive impact on both the Service and the community. Candidates are sought who have experience across all aspects of policing in Canada, with a demonstrated success in working with peoples of diverse communities, backgrounds and interests.
