PUBLIC CONSULTATION – CHIEF OF POLICE RECRUITMENT
THUNDER BAY, ON, August 19, 2022 — The Thunder Bay Police Services Board would like your feedback
during the process of identifying and selecting a new Chief of Police. The Board is asking the public to
complete a confidential survey to determine the leadership qualities, experience and qualifications that
the public feels will be required for success with this vital position at the Service. Community feedback is
vital to this selection process.
Odgers Berndston, the firm hired to help the Board with recruitment of the new Chief, will be capturing
the public’s thoughts on the following questions in the survey:
1. From your perspective, what are the issues and challenges facing the Thunder Bay Police Service
today and over the next 2-3 years in terms of management and service to the community?
2. Within that context, what should be the priorities for the new Chief?
3. What skills, qualities and experience should we be looking for in the new Chief?
The confidential survey can be found at the following link:
Feedback will be captured until September 16, 2022.
The work being undertaken by the Expert Panel to review concerns expressed by members of the
community and the Service itself will also provide input to the Chief recruitment process.
We would like to thank community members in advance for their feedback.
